Co-Author: Alicja Pruśińska
The fountain is an organic record of the city’s history. Inspired by the karst processes that shaped the limestone landscape of the Krakow region, it explores the deep relationship between geology, water, and architecture.
The sculptural form was developed through experiments with gypsum, where flowing water created traces and voids, an accelerated model of the processes that shaped the limestone foundations of the city over millions of years.
Placed in the heart of the Main Square, the fountain brings this geological memory into the present. Limestone and water become active materials: the stone carries the memory of the earth, while water continuously transforms its surface.
The digital representation of the sculpture undergoes multiple iterations of pixelation and scaling before returning to reality through CNC-cut limestone blocks. The process bridges geological time, material transformation, and the digital era.
