Apartment Typologies
Site Section

Partial Floorplan

The project seeks to tackle high-density housing topic while honoring the site's historical significance. The Beaulieu area in Lausanne, formerly a venue for EXPO events, features a large conference center adjacent to an expansive park.

Currently, the area is undergoing development, and this project provides a critical perspective on its existing conditions while exploring various living typologies.

Two slender housing blocks, each with 300 apartments, frame the conference center and create an engaging city-scale park. The previous emptiness of the site is transformed into a large open field.

The apartments are designed to explore the interplay of light and private spaces. Each apartment type includes a bedroom area that functions as the building's structural core, with four innovative, indirect methods for bringing light into the living spaces.
