Function : Single Family House
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Client : Private
Year: 2020-2024
Located in a “garden city” near Warsaw, this project is set within a dense forest where houses and villas are interspersed. The owners wanted a design that fosters a strong connection to the forest while ensuring their privacy. Consequently, the house features two distinct facades: one oriented toward the street and the other toward the forest.
The forest-facing facade resembles an extended veranda that runs along the entire building. It is made of wood with large glass surfaces, promoting a seamless connection with the natural surroundings. In contrast, the street-facing side is more modest, featuring rough plaster and smaller windows to maintain privacy.
The design consists of two volumes that intersect at a 60-degree angle, creating an intimate spatial relationship between the two sides. This layout allows for visibility and interaction while still providing personal space.
The house includes an indoor swimming pool and an underground garage within one of the volumes. The material palette emphasizes natural, warm colors, utilizing wood, steel, and concrete that retain their natural qualities.
This residence functions as both a permanent home and a peaceful retreat into the forest.
