Two new modest, yet expressively articulated houses expand the infrastructure of the existing school building and kindergarten at Plagnuola. Despite their peripheral location, they integrate seamlessly into the existing village structure, thanks to their small-scale proportions and the intricate outdoor spaces. The spatial diversity, shaped by the varied topography and the differentiated views, creates an engaging and varied environment for the children to thrive while playing and learning. The barrier-free outdoor spaces are also connected to the surrounding area, inviting people to linger and pass through.
The project consists of two three-story rectangular volumes with a flat gable roof, blending harmoniously into the small-scale grain of the upper village. At the same time, it naturally transitions into the looser and more open structure of the holiday and residential neighborhood, with the northern gable marking the entrance to the village center. The two buildings are aligned along the tapering streets, Plagnuola and Via Nouva. This irregular arrangement creates a variety of spatial sequences.
